In an interview with Lem Satterfield of Boxing FanHouse, Yuri Foreman (28-0, 8 KOs) said, "No one gave me a chance against [Daniel] Santos, but I was ready and I'm looking forward to showcasing my skills in a big fight like that against [Miguel] Cotto." Foreman defeated Santos (32-4-1, 23 KOs) last November to win the WBA light middleweight championship.
The fight between Foreman and Cotto (34-2, 27 KOs), which is close to becoming official, would take place on June 12, 2010 in New York's Madison Square Garden and would be for Foreman's WBA light middleweight title. Last night, The New York Times reported that the fight will happen. But, in an interview on HBO last night, Cotto explained that negotiations were ongoing and nothing was official quite yet.
Both Cotto and Foreman were at the Juan Manuel Lopez-Steven Luevano, Yuriorkis Gamboa-Roger Mtagwa doubleheader held in Madison Square Garden's WaMu Theater last night and the two posed together for pictures.
